The Anglo-American University is the oldest private university in the Czech Republic and it has been even recognized as one of the most international universities in Europe. AAU offers 17 undergraduate and graduate programs in English to students from over eighty countries around the world.
AAU prides itself on small, interactive classes designed for authentic engagement and discussion thanks to an average of just 15 students per class. The individual attention from professors, diverse community and emphasis on practical learning prepares students perfectly for the global marketplace.
AAU is one of few universities globally which have received accreditation from the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), an American accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Most of its programs are also accredited by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic with an exception of Law programs and the Chapman MBA program. Those are offered in cooperation with international partners.
As a not-for-profit university, AAU continually invests in developing the potential of our community and improving our educational models. AAU pushes students to achieve their highest potential both in and out of the classroom by offering merit-based scholarships, promoting academic research, internships, more than 40 exchange, and Erasmus opportunities as well as an variety of student clubs to get involved in.
AAU is situated in the beautifully restored Thurn-Taxis palace in Prague’s historic Malá Strana.

Admission and entrance exams
We welcome students from all over the world and from all academic backgrounds. We require that students be able to demonstrate their English proficiency in addition to providing the required documents listed here.
All students will need to have an interview with the Dean of their chosen program as part of the application process, and this interview can be conducted either in person or via skype. Ultimately, the Dean will make the final decision regarding acceptance.
AAU proudly has rolling admissions, so we encourage students to apply at any time. We look forward to receiving your application! Additionally, if you would like to schedule a visit to our campus or plan to attend an upcoming open house event please click here.

There is no shortage of opportunities for learning abroad.
The EU’s Erasmus program has been an important part of student internationalization. It has allowed students to experience the diversity of life and education across the European Union. Outside the EU, AAU historically focuses on the USA and other English-speaking countries; but increasingly we have also been developing exchange partnerships in Asia.
AAU is one of a few universities globally—and the first institution in Europe—to have received accreditation from the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), an American accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education. AAU programs are also accredited by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. Additionally, the Certificate of Higher Education in Common Law, LLB, and LLM is offered in cooperation with the University of London.
