About us
The Anglo-American University is the oldest private university in the Czech Republic and it has been even recognized as one of the most international universities in Europe. AAU offers 17 undergraduate and graduate programs in English to students from over eighty countries around the world.
AAU prides itself on small, interactive classes designed for authentic engagement and discussion thanks to an average of just 15 students per class. The individual attention from professors, diverse community and emphasis on practical learning prepares students perfectly for the global marketplace.
AAU is one of few universities globally which have received accreditation from the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), an American accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Most of its programs are also accredited by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic with an exception of Law programs and the Chapman MBA program. Those are offered in cooperation with international partners.
As a not-for-profit university, AAU continually invests in developing the potential of our community and improving our educational models. AAU pushes students to achieve their highest potential both in and out of the classroom by offering merit-based scholarships, promoting academic research, internships, more than 40 exchange, and Erasmus opportunities as well as an variety of student clubs to get involved in.

Admission and entrance exams
We welcome students from all over the world and from all academic backgrounds. We require that students be able to demonstrate their English proficiency in addition to providing the required documents listed here.
All students will need to have an interview with the Dean of their chosen program as part of the application process, and this interview can be conducted either in person or via skype. Ultimately, the Dean will make the final decision regarding acceptance.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
AAU offers its students the opportunity to live together with their classmates from different countries and cultures in the heart of Prague, capital city of the Czech Republic. AAU’s housing is situated max. 30 minutes of the AAU Campus in a lively area full of shops, parks, and restaurants. AAU’s student housing is available to reserve on a semester basis or for the entire academic year and includes basic amenities and services (WiFi, 24-hour security, laundry facilities etc.).
Apart from housing provided by the school, students can stay in private apartments, student dormitories or flat-sharing for long term or short term rent. Whether it’s AAU housing or an alternative our Students Services Team are happy to assist students in securing safe and comfortable housing for their stay in Prague.
From Basketball Club to Model UN AAU has a wide range of student-run clubs. Additionally, AAU offers a rich student life supported by our Student Services team that offers a robust Career Center, assistance with Internships, free Psychological Counseling, free Academic Tutoring and a other services aimed to improve the student experience.
Study Abroad/Erasmus Opportunities:
AAU strongly encourages its students to participate in international activities. They can choose from more that 40 AAU´s international partners for a classic student exchange or shorter intensive programs such as community outreach with the International Experience Project. There is no shortage of opportunities for learning abroad.
The EU’s Erasmus program has been an important part of student internationalization. It has allowed students to experience the diversity of life and education across the European Union. Outside the EU, AAU historically focuses on the USA and other English-speaking countries; but increasingly we have also been developing exchange partnerships in Asia.
Accreditation:
AAU is one of a few universities globally—and the first institution in Europe—to have received accreditation from the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), an American accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education.
