With over 6,000 students, the Faculty of Arts is the largest faculty of Masaryk University and it is one of the best and most sought-after humanities faculties in the Czech Republic. Since its establishment the faculty has developed the traditional humanities-oriented disciplines such as History, Philosophy and Classical Philology or Slavonic, Germanic and Romance Philology, as well as Sociology, Psychology or Art History – fields representing new research trends in the university environment.
All of the faculty departments are involved in a great variety of research projects and some of them are also involved in joint research projects financed by the European Union. The faculty is located in the city centre where it offers its students a large and modern library with a quality archive of foreign publications, computer-equipped classrooms and multimedia libraries.
