The Faculty of Law is one of the founding faculties of Masaryk University. In 2016 the Czech Economic Newspaper considered the Faculty of Law to be the best law faculty in the Czech Republic. Studies close to real-life practice and modern trends, an international environment with international teachers and students participating in international competition all have their share in the faculty’s success. The faculty organizes a number of significant international conferences such as the Conference for Young Lawyers – targeting doctoral students, or Days of Law – an event facilitating the discussion of both Czech and international law. Students at the faculty gain knowledge for a wide range of legal professions in areas such as the judiciary, the public prosecution service and advocacy, in both public administration and the private sector. To deepen their knowledge, students can take advantage of the unique library, which is also publicly accessible to professionals and has one of the largest collections of professional legal literature in Central Europe. In the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2018, MUNI ranked in 101st to 125th position in LAW. The THE ranking is the only global university performance table to judge research-intensive universities across all of their core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
