Admission and entrance exams

Charles University comprises 17 independent faculties (schools). Each faculty has a specific application procedure and admission requirements. Most faculties hold their own entrance exams. If there is no entrance exam, applicants are assessed based on submitted documents.

Prospective students are advised to visit the website of the respective faculty to see what the specific admission requirements are.

Studies in English are mostly paid; the fees, as well as requirements, depend on the particular study programme. Studies in Czech language are free of charge; however, international students have to meet the same application and admission requirements as Czech students, and some faculties require a Czech language certificate.

General information on how to apply to CU for study programmes in foreign languages is available here.

Check the Central database of study programmes where you will find the online application, admission requirements, deadlines, tuition fees.
