The Quality of Czech education is on the rise

The Czech Republic has the twelfth highest quality of education within the European Union, according to the Prosperity and Financial Health Index, which evaluates the quality of education and research in EU countries. Compared to the previous ranking, the Czech Republic has gone up two places.
The improvement is mainly due to a significant increase in digital literacy. The evaluation of digital skills focuses, among other things, on information and data literacy, digital content creation, safety and problem-solving in a digital environment, and digital communication.
More than 35 percent of Czechs have advanced digital skills compared to 24 percent in the previous assessment. The EU average is currently 27 percent.
On the other hand, the Czech Republic does not excel in the number of university graduates. In 2024, only 33 percent of people aged 25 to 34 held a university degree. Only Hungary, Italy, and Romania have lower numbers.
The number of Czechs pursuing further education through various courses is also amongst the lowest in the EU, although this category has seen a slight increase — by just under one percentage point. In this category, the Czech Republic finished 19th.
Overall, the highest quality education within the EU can be acquired in Scandinavia. At the far end of the ranking are Balkan countries. The very bottom spots are held by Romania, Bulgaria, and Greece, which achieved below-average results in almost all assessed criteria.
