The Faculty of Health and Social Sciences is an institution distinctively focused on health and social care. The faculty has a unique position in the Czech Republic due to its interconnection of health care and social topics. Studying at the faculty is closely linked with practice and its aim is to prepare graduates who understand and apply a holistic approach that looks at a person as a whole and ensures that both the body and the mind receive support. As a result of the harmonious combination of these perspectives, the faculty trains professionals who understand their profession as a mission.
Each USB faculty offers courses in English and other foreign languages for exchange students as well.
Admission and entrance exams
The application process usually runs during Spring for programmes beginning in October. Most faculties accept applications until the end of March or April (some even until mid-May). Check faculty websites for specific dates. You need to apply in time to be able to take part in admission exams and provide documents proving your prior education.
The concrete requirements and conditions of admission depend on the faculty and the particular degree programme. Detailed application procedures are published on the faculty websites.
Degree studies pursued in the Czech language are free of charge. Tuition fees may apply to foreign-language programmes (see programme descriptions in the section Study at USB). There is an application fee of 500 CZK (approx. EUR 20). The students of the University of South Bohemia may benefit from various scholarships and bursaries.

The Faculty places great emphasis on practical learning – it cooperates with respected health and social organizations, including hospitals and other important institutions. In 2020, the Faculty opened its own Simulation Centre for Health-oriented Fields where the students learn all the practical skills they need in a safe and comfortable environment. Other specialised centres such as the Physiotherapy Centre and the Centre for Prevention of Lifestyle Diseases and labs are also well-equipped with the latest technology.
The Faculty is an institution that truly lives up to its motto: We teach people to help. Thanks to this, the faculty trains students for whom their profession can become their mission. A demanding mission, but a mission that allows them to lead fulfilling lives.
