Student Ambassadors: Mariia Ragozina from RussiaHi my name is Mariia and I came to the Czech Republic from Russia, Chelyabinsk to study at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. I have already received my Bachelor´s degree in agricultural biotechnology at the USB Faculty of Agriculture and I am going to pursue my Master´s degree at USB as well in a double degree programme in cooperation with the Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria.

After graduating from school, I faced the question of which university to choose. The Czech Republic attracted my attention with its free higher education and high standard of living. By happy coincidence, a representative of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice was presenting an intensive Czech course at my school. She talked a lot about the university and student life, but when I came to study here… all my expectations were exceeded several times over!

The staff was so friendly to students that I have never seen in any other institution. Everyone was willing to help me in any situation, whether it was to catch up on missing study material or to prepare for confirmation of my school diploma.  After the intensive Czech language course, I successfully passed the language exam and applied to the Faculty of Agriculture, majoring in Biotechnology.  Three years flew by like one month, and now I already graduated with a Bachelor’s degree!

A huge amount of lab work, practical subjects, several summer internships (one of which I stayed and have combined with my studies) occupy an honorable place in my CV. The goal of the instructors is to teach students and prepare them for their future profession. There are no boring lectures and inadequate requirements, only the desire to encourage and motivate students! A huge advantage was also the opportunity to sign up for subjects by myself – for example, I took an advanced course in cytogenetics at the Faculty of Science and studied German for several semesters.

The whole study period was an unforgettable experience, if you are in doubt about studying in the Czech Republic – just do it at the University of South Bohemia!
