The Faculty of Environmental Technology that belongs to the University of Chemistry and Technology is currently offering one programme related to ecology. This university is situated in Prague and ideal for those who want to experience our bustling metropolis. The school puts utmost emphasis on research and is one of the largest Czech institutions that provide education in chemistry, biochemistry, material, chemical engineering, food chemistry and environmental studies.

Sustainability and Environmental Engineering is a 2-year long master programme with a tuition around 2 600 EUR per a year. You’ll be able to obtain knowledge in environmental chemistry, microbiology, hydrobiology, water and atmosphere technologies, decontamination techniques and waste handling technologies. It’s a challenging programme that will equip you with everything you need to know about environmental protection and engineering.

The Faculty of Science belonging to the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice is offering one follow-up master programme and one PhD programme. If you’re not a fan of big cities but you still want to study at school with international classmates, this might be a perfect choice for you.

Ecology is a 2-year long master programme and you can apply each semester. Another good news is that this programme is basically free of charge which doesn’t happen often so it’s an excellent opportunity for anyone. You’ll get training in modern ecology research and obtain knowledge in ecological theory as well as practical analysis and interpretation of ecological data. You’re expected to conduct your own research which will become a basis for your thesis.

Ecosystem Biology and Ecology is a 4-year long PhD programme that will turn you into a real expert. And its tuition is also only symbolic! You’ll obtain deep knowledge of methodology in current ecology with the focus on mechanisms of ecological networks. All students will gain access to top research methods such as generation sequencing, stable isotopes, stoichiometry, mesocosm experiments and many others. Experimental approach is highly valued.

The Faculty of Science that belongs to the University of Hradec Králové offers several programmes suitable for ecologically-inclined students. Located in a smaller city that is still reasonably close to Prague for a weekend visit, it’s an ideal place for people who prefer a little bit more peaceful environment.

Biology and Ecology is a 3-year long bachelor programme with the tuition 4000 EUR per a year. It provides a solid basis for follow-up master study programmes in similar fields so you’ll obtain thorough training, both theoretical and practical. Students take courses in biology, botany, zoology, fundamentals of chemistry, mathematics and physics. As a master follow-up for another two years, you can pick your specialisation and go either into Animal Biology, Experimental Biology or Plant Biology.

Biology and Ecology is a 4-year long PhD programme with the same name as it builds up on your previous knowledge but you can apply even from a different university, of course, provided you studied in a similar field. Students have three compulsory courses: Collection and evaluation of biological data, Creation of publications and Professional English language. Then you can freely choose out of 12 specialised courses or even complete a corresponding course at another university in Czechia or abroad. You’re also expected to teach undergraduates at the department which will give you an excellent opportunity to gain some experience.
