banner_30_web_01To celebrate the 30th birthday of this prestigious university, which adds to the prosperity and attractiveness of Pilsen and Pilsen region there are many activities planned for everybody. Students, graduates, partners, and the public can all participate in the events and be a part of this celebration.

There are several events planned in September and October and this is how it goes:

On Tuesday, 21st of September there is Day in the Campus: during this festival, the campus will host three stages- the smallest stage will be allocated to slam poetry, which will be in the courtyard of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. There will also be two music stages, one near Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, which is next to the ziggurat. The second musical stage is in front of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Both the musical events will host professional and student bands.

At 8 p.m., on 21st September the main stage will host the band Tata Bojs which is the highlight of the celebration. Everyone is invited to enjoy the amazing performance for free.

During the Day on the campus, there will also be Beer with the Rector: this is an informal event that was first started in 2016 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of this university. Since then, it’s been a regular event at the beginning of each academic year. The students and the rector come together in the courtyard of the Pilsner Urquell brewery where the visitors get to taste a special beer that was brewed and will be tapped by the Rector Miroslav Holeček himself. This event has gained immense popularity over the years as more and more visitors are seen each year.

Event Year One: this is organized for the new incoming first-year students. The newbies can benefit from this as they can familiarize themselves with the university and its environment. They will also be able to attend various fun activities and a tour filled with information about the university experience here.

Literature Night: it will take place in September, where visitors will be taken to normally inaccessible places located in the university.

A social evening for graduates and partners: in November this event will take place in cooperation with J.K.Tyl Theatre.

During these events at UWB, there will be stands that offer promotional items with a logo – celebrating the 30th anniversary, which is designed by Nicoleta Puiu, who is a student of Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art. Not only this but there will also be a clothing collection, with the hashtag COPATUTOJE. The money collected from selling these products, a portion will be donated to the Oncology and Radiology clinic at the University Hospital in Pilsen.

The faculty of Applied Sciences has been partners with the Czech National Marrow Donor Registry since 2009. This cooperation focuses on the research and development for the process of stem cell transplantation. Visitors can come and support the Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation which will be present at the event. You can either register or make a financial donation to help support the foundation’s activities.

An Anniversary book will be released in September which highlights the last 30 years of the university and recalls the milestones of its history. This book will consist of comic stories telling us about the achievements of individual faculties and research centers. Students of the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art have helped create the illustrations under the guidance of renowned illustrator Rénáta Fučíková. Some of the selected chapters of the book will be on display throughout September at the exhibition commemorating the 30th anniversary, in Smetana Orchards.

More information regarding the events will be found on the web page zcu.cz/30let
